Hériter des brumes

*Hériter des brumes* is the story of a theater troupe—made up of contemporary actors and playwrights—who are attempting to recreate the journey of the Théâtre du Peuple, 130 years after its founding. It is a theatrical series in six episodes. It is a quest to understand what a utopia is and what a utopia can mean for us today. It features many friendships and passions, ghosts, two world wars, the village of Bussang, love stories, family sagas, countless crises, countless reconciliations, trees, landscapes… and performances—lots of performances.

Following on from the previous season, we wanted to continue our exploration of the Théâtre du Peuple’s wild epic and retrace its history through a six-episode theatrical series, each episode lasting one hour: Inheriting the Mists. The People’s Theater is a place that has known how to transform and evolve through the ages. Flexible and untamed, it has always invented and created, drawing on the forces at play. As the cultural world enters a new kind of crisis, we immersed ourselves in this story with the urgency and hunger of castaways. The ten or so performances that took place in late August 2025 revealed to us the power of this endeavor, the need to share and experience this tale of collective utopia, and the questions it raises.
