Good sex

On stage, a story of love, loneliness, and desire unfolds. Two people who once loved each other are reunited. However, the two actors portraying this story do not know each other, have never met, and know nothing about the script they are to perform.

Every evening, a new actor and a new actress meet on set without having rehearsed together or read the script, which is fed to them in real time through an earpiece. To guide them, the two are accompanied by an intimacy coordinator whose specific role is to orchestrate the physical closeness between the performers, build their trust, and facilitate the portrayal of sexuality on film sets.

Good Sex offers a glimpse into the making of intimacy—the choreography that unfolds behind the scenes, on movie sets, and, at times, on theater stages—to allow bodies to come together with confidence. A production by the Irish company Dead Centre, which continually explores the form and limits of theatrical art through consistently unique approaches, Good Sex explores both our contemporary relationship with intimacy, sexuality, and love, as well as the way in which the illusion of representation—whether theatrical or cinematic—affects us.
