Du luxe et de l'impuissance
From articles and editorials commissioned from Jean-Luc Lagarce by theaters and magazines between 1991 and 1995, we follow Jean-Luc's solitary, silent wanderings, yet filled with words, sounds and images, as he returns one last time to tell us... to tell himself... to tell of his struggles, his joys, his desires, his illness, his death... to tell HIS THEATRE. telling HIS THEATRE.
What struck me immediately in these texts, so limpid, so obvious, is that always the "political" word (with regard to the place of theater and art in society) is inseparable from a personal word, where the sensitive is always brought to the fore.
Public commitment and personal commitment are intimately linked.
- To accompany these texts and this journey: Barbara- who sings and speaks -
Barbara who sings of solitude, hospital corridors, the velvets of theaters;
Barbara who answers journalists' questions;
Barbara who, also in her own way, combines so well the intimate (love, solitude, death) and the spectacular through the staging and beauty of her figure and face.
And then Barbara, who for many months supported AIDS sufferers.
Finally Barbara, who for as long as I can remember has lulled my dreams and softened my nightmares.
- And another shadow will accompany me on the set throughout this journey...
