Delay the Sadness
A long-awaited new opus from the Sharon Eyal Dance Company, Delay the Sadness promises a great moment of virtuosity. A major choreographer of recent years, Sharon Eyal makes each of her pieces a tribute to life.
Sharon Eyal and her fellow dancer, Gai Behar, were made for each other: she a dancer, the troupe's emerging choreographer, and he an arts events curator and nightclubber. In 2013, they launched their dance company and have been collaborating on major choreographic projects ever since. These include the hugely successful Love Cycle trilogy, commissions for Nederlands Dans Theater, Paris Opera Ballet and GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, not to mention side-steps between fashion and contemporary art. After the shock of Into the Hairy, S-E-D returns to La Villette to present Delay the Sadness, with an original score by Josef Laimon. This eagerly-awaited new creation will be brought to life by a group of eight dancers from the company, each bringing their own unique energy and expression to the piece. "Enabling a rich interplay between individual and collective movement, creating a dynamic mosaic of interactions and relationships, the dancers will be at the heart of the piece, their bodies projecting emotion that transcends words." Sharon Eyal promises to stage vibrant bodies, soothed or furious trances, gestures stretched to the extreme from which the beauty of the moment springs.
