"Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within a State. Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country." What remains today of Article 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights? Premiered at the Biennale de la danse in September 2023, this piece by the unclassifiable and committed Phia Ménard deconstructs our society and its injunctions by bringing together a monumental sculpture and a masked creature: half-child, half-animal, the artist Marion Blondeau captivates us with her disjointed gestures and her unique way of confronting the obstacles that stand in her way. The stage, a French garden, becomes the site of a poetic struggle to reclaim space. A fable that counters injustice and oppression with the power of the imagination.
