Anti-magie

Add to my favorites

The play takes place in the bedroom of a sad teenager who wants to transform this private space of domestication into a collective space for experimentation. What enigmatic and secret realm could survive our adolescence? What protocol and what tools would facilitate access to it? Juan Bescós opts for what he calls “anti-magic”: an efficacy of the invisible that is at once a collective utopia, the dream of vulnerable “drama queen” heroines, and a means of defying the fundamental laws of existence—in other words: a poetic antidote to nihilism. Based on a dramaturgy of sensation, Anti-magie offers us a joyful and unconventional fantasy, drawing as much from death metal as from Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, to open dizzying portals.
