And Here I am

Add to my favorites

And Here I am is the gesture of resistance of Ahmed Tobasi, Palestinian actor and artistic director of the Freedom Theatre in the Jenin camp on the West Bank. Born in the same camp, through armed struggle, prison and exile in Norway, he finally chose the theater rather than the front line to "stay alive" and tell the stories of his people, for as long as possible. Revisited by playwright Hassan Abdulrazzak, Ahmed Tobasi plays himself in this political comedy that reveals the struggles, contradictions and hopes of Palestinian youth in search of freedom. Far from clichés and ready-made images, it's the search for real life that's at stake, the right to speak out and choose a future for themselves.
