Truckstop

A truck stop on a country road in North Brabant. A mother and her 18-year-old daughter, Katalijne, have been running it for many years. A lorry driver, Remco, stops there almost every day for a coffee or a snack.

All three have dreams and are trying to escape the daily grind. Katalijne and Remco are looking to get away in search of a better future. The mother wants to protect her daughter, who suffers from hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder, and, perhaps, to find a new life with a wealthy man.

But the future will not turn out as hoped. Bit by bit, we discover the events of that tragic night which will determine each character’s fate. We hear their thoughts, witness the events unfold, and see how situations spiral out of control, in a non-chronological narrative that gives ample space to human emotions. A nuanced, powerful and compelling play.
