Over the course of two weekly meetings, a mother tries to keep her son afloat as he sinks deeper into a life of aimlessness and drugs. Christian, an intelligent young man, pushes his mother to the breaking point with his constant questioning of his African roots – a subject she strives to avoid, having made it her mission to record the personal stories of Caribbean women about their lives and their failures. Christian perceives these women’s stories as an obstacle to his relationship with his mother.
