Toutes les femmes sont des aliens

“If I hadn’t seen the Alien saga, Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, two Walt Disney cartoons, Bambi and The Jungle Book, I doubt I would have experienced such intense feelings of fear, love and desire. As the years have gone by, nothing has managed to make me forget the most traumatic scenes from these films. By watching them over and over again, I’ve discovered so many startling things about motherhood, gender identity, the role of blondes and domestication that I feel I know myself more intimately and understand the world a little better. What if cinema served above all to stoke and magnify our follies?’
