"Strokes" recounts the tragic story of a young Guinean, shot dead by New York police in 1999, in a play that interweaves social chronicle, urban poetry and denunciation of American institutional racism. The text moves between the voice of the young man pursuing the American dream, the political reactions of Mayor Giuliani, and the pain of the mother who has come to recover her son's body. This text is followed by "Tentative d'évasion", which transposes this violence to the world of psychiatric confinement, to tell the story of a sixteen-year-old young man placed in a detoxification center, oscillating between revolt, acceptance and reconstruction of identity.
