Sit Jikaer

Sit Jikaer is a woman of many faces: by turns a vigilante, a rebellious child, an activist student, an anarchist and a punk singer. She is the antithesis of Bajgar, a lost young musician trying to write a punk rock concept album, no doubt inspired by Sit Jikaer – or perhaps it is the other way round. He is helped by Marinette, a sales assistant at a guitar shop who spares no effort to rouse him from his lethargy. The parallel lives of this powerful woman and this depressed musician gradually begin to intertwine, until they may eventually meet.
In this epic tale, with its rhythmic prose, zany world and myriad characters, Grégoire Vauquois takes us to the frontier between reality and fiction. He delightfully revisits punk culture, whose ‘no future’ mantra offers a possible response to the lack of prospects in today’s world.
