Retour de la préfecture

Two voices, a love story. A woman and a man recount the treatment they received at the Police Headquarters, where they had an appointment to apply for a residence permit following their marriage. Both describe the harsh words directed at them and the incomprehension that gave way to anger. Both speak of the shame they felt, which wounded their love, and, echoing this, the shattering of their hope of living here, in a country where rights are doled out according to one’s origins and skin colour.
