An unattractive young man turns up uninvited at a student party being held in a suburban house. The party is over; he is alone in the garden, behind a deckchair, hidden by the darkness of night.
Just then, a young man – the host – dives into the swimming pool, accompanied by his girlfriend and his mate. The boy watches them, commenting on their actions as if he were an invisible commentator, on the sidelines of what is unfolding.
Watching them have fun, fight and make love, he analyses himself through them, positioning himself in opposition, but gradually, beneath the commentary, the true reasons for his presence there emerge: a shove in the university corridors, a poem by Gaston Miron read in a literature class.
The next day, he wakes up. The young man from the swimming pool is standing opposite him. An unexpected dialogue then begins, one that will both liberate and intensify his feelings.
