Yasmine can no longer read. A child who seems to be a therapist invites her to retrace her past in order to understand what is happening to her. We then learn about Yasmine’s arrival in Paris and her journey to adulthood. A constant back-and-forth between a family unit stuck in a frozen space-time – Baghdad, the war, memories… – and a French society she knows little about, which she must discover for herself. In order to exist in these two conflicting worlds, Yasmine is forced to split herself in two. The audience, as her confidants, accompanies the young woman through the defining moments of her life, bearing witness to her duality, the workings of assimilation, and her struggle to find her place.
