Between Angélica, the protagonist, and China, it's a love story made up of impulses and contradictions. The love of this country is not without pain and bitterness. It is expressed first and foremost in the daily learning of calligraphic signs, but also in the lucid acceptance of the country's dark history: the Maoist legacy, the Cultural Revolution, the unconditional devotion demanded of the fatherland, and counter-revolutionary love affairs. At the end of a series of questions thrown like so many ping-pong balls, Angélica, pushed to her limits, will have to tell herself and China.

Ping-pong, China's national sport, is for the author the symbol of her ambiguous relationship with China. How can she express her love for a country where all freedom of expression seems to be denied, and where individuals are denied the right to freely choose their affections?
