It’s a neutral space, a place where everything passes through: travelers, time, the buzz of the world. An airport. A small group of friends is getting ready to go on vacation. But a minor incident occurs: one of the travelers’ suitcases is rejected by the airline employee because it’s too big.

Tensions rise, but the employee remains unyielding. Then, a terrible word is hurled at the flight attendant—a word that explodes, ricochets, and reveals misunderstandings, questions, and doubts as well. Are these friends, who were once so close—intimately and politically—still close today?

Outside, too, chaos looms: on screens throughout the airport, images of elections play on a loop, showing two European countries where populism—cheered on by ordinary crowds—has triumphed: the rise of a new party called “Taking Care.”

Night falls; the planes at their terminal are grounded, stranded by bad weather. Each person faces their own sacrifices and compromises, grappling with questions of choice, free will, responsibility, and personal and political upheaval—all through a single word.
