Lulu isn’t like other teenagers, no doubt because he lives on the other side of a wall, in a tower block in the middle of the fields, with a mother who struggles to accept him for who he is and who idolises his sister.

Lulu’s dream? To become a rock or punk star, or to follow in Valentina Tereškova’s footsteps: to set out to conquer space and the stars. But Lulu has to sit school exams that will decide his future. And the future on offer doesn’t exactly fill her with enthusiasm!

So, together with Moritz, her visually impaired friend, Lulu escapes into dreams, populated by benevolent aliens, where it would be possible to start all over again. The two friends reinvent a world tailored to their imagination and to the blindness that is overtaking Moritz when, as if out of the blue, an unlikely young girl appears.

Magali Mougel paints a portrait of a teenager who, in his own way – even if it means being cast out of the realm of social normality – subverts the imposed order in an emancipatory and libertarian headlong rush.
