L’hors-présence

Laure, diagnosed with cancer, returns home to die in the dilapidated village of Morsan. Her two brothers and her sister join her and are confronted with the ambivalence, the intractable nature, and the vertigo of these final days. Yet, in the house across the street, someone seems to be watching them…
“L’hors-présence” is a play that examines the ways in which we look at those who are dying. It traces what remains when illusions shatter and seeks another way to express what the words invented by the institution fail to convey. Between Vermeer and contemporary art, between the “camera obscura” and radical dazzling, the text attempts to restore to death what modern Western society has taken from it: its place at the center of the village.
