Les Méritants
Post-apocalypse zombie comedy.
A few human survivors have dug themselves in and are trying to organize themselves to rebuild society with their meager resources. Soon, zombies are knocking on the door of the shelter, but prove to be far from the image we have of them. They are helpful and willing to work for the common good. The survivors will have to come to terms with these "underlings" and invent a new social order. A notion to sort them out: merit.
Les Méritants questions the workings of meritocracy. An ideology in which individual merit, the social elevator and equal opportunity alone justify social hierarchization.
The figure of the zombie constructs a "natural" otherness, carrying with it the popular imagery we know, while offering to embody a symbolic representation of all the losers of social mobility.
