Les jeunes filles du Bon Pasteur ou les sacrées nanas
The Girls of the Good Shepherd, or Those Amazing Girls traces the real and fictional life stories of several former residents of the Congregation of the Good Shepherd, a religious institution whose motherhouse was founded in 1835 in Angers.
Blurring the lines between documentary theater and fictional theater, and following several months of research, we created our stories. We follow Marthe, a 15-year-old girl sent to the Good Shepherd in Cholet on August 15, 1962. Along the way, she meets her dream allies—theater collaborators named Albertine Sarrazin, Marie-Christine Vennat, and Éveline Le Bris.
Today, more than 50 years after being placed there, the former residents have formed an association. Having remained silent for so long, they are now campaigning for recognition of the harm they suffered. This performance serves as their voice.
