Les Hauts de Hurlevent

The tenant of Thrushcross Grange, who has come to seek solitude in this land of steep-sided glens and deserted, windswept moors, finds in Heathcliff, its landlord, a very strange character: who is this taciturn man, with his intense black eyes, who lives on the other side of the moor, with for company a surly old servant, a young woman as icy as she is pretty, and a teenager with brutal manners?
