On one side of the book, you’ll find the story of a girl in France, of Moroccan descent, who plays soccer and is torn between joining the French national team or the Moroccan national team, on the other side of the book, you’ll find the story of a guy in France who plays soccer and (unintentionally) makes his homosexuality an issue within his soccer team
On one side or the other (of the book), there is a “soccer France” and a “France” in general that is struggling to come to terms with its postcolonial history and must grapple with the possibility of everyone freely expressing their sexuality
