In the communal area of a psychiatric care home, separated from the town by a thick, dark forest, Claire Lagrange paints mechanically, in silence, using children’s gouache. Jean and Silvia watch her, astonished: her extreme slowness contrasts with the agitation she had been in when she arrived a few days earlier. Madame, a member of staff, rushes from one room to another, overwhelmed by figures, spreadsheets, lists… and this rift she needs to deal with. On the other side of the forest, Mrs Lagrange, Claire’s mother, loses herself in a torrent of words, questions and memories: she could never have imagined that such an event would befall her family… Will she finally agree, as her grandson Roméo is asking her to, to go and visit Claire?

Céline Delbecq draws us into a sensitive tale in which the cracks in the world reveal the need for connection and wonder.
