Carlo Acutis is the only saint whose body is publicly displayed wearing a sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers. He died at age 15 from leukemia, which took his life in just one week. More than fifty books have been published about him: on his all-consuming faith, on his passion for new technologies—which earned him the nickname “God’s geek”—and on his disarming strength in the face of illness.

Drawing on this leading figure of a trendy Catholic Church, I Could Count All My Bones explores faith, death, and life as profound mysteries. In this play, we find perplexed caregivers, a stoned saint who smokes cigarettes, jokes about cancer, but also people who are suffering and trying to come to terms with it.
