Moha hates being embarrassed. In his first year of college, his goal is to come in first on his midterms. When a teenager from his neighborhood is killed by a police officer, a wave of protests threatens to cancel the exams, and the residents of his neighborhood vent their anger. Torn between conflicting demands, Moha navigates his way to find his place.
To write this work of fiction, twenty years after the deaths of Zyed Benna and Bouna Traoré and the first major uprisings in working-class neighborhoods, the author conducted interviews with social scientists, police officers, and lawyers specializing in police violence.
