Esquif (à fleur d'eau)

Since 2019, the rescue vessel Ocean Viking, chartered by the humanitarian organisation SOS MEDITERRANEE, has rescued thousands of men, women and children from their distressed boats and skiffs. Drawing inspiration from survivors’ accounts, Anaïs Allais Benbouali delicately weaves a folk tale with political resonance for everyone. In this work of fiction, the Mediterranean Sea breaks its silence to restore humanity to those attempting to cross it. It speaks out to describe the world as it is and to offer a new horizon to a generation of young people who are agents of change and in search of hope.
