The play is set in Manhattan, in the penthouse of the famous American writer of Polish and German descent, Ulya Richte. A reserved and discreet person, Ulya is granting a very important interview to the Polish journalist Krzysztof Kaminski. Ulya is a Nobel Prize contender, and this interview is of paramount importance to her career. That is why her two other guests—her literary agent Steve and her lawyer Natalie—do their utmost to keep the conversation within the prearranged boundaries. However, at one point, all the agreements made with the journalist go out the window, giving way to a candid conversation about the dark side of success, the rejection of one’s own origins, the courage to be oneself, and the exhilaration an author feels when creating a true work of art.
