Electra, a fallen princess, lives in the slums of Argos. Married to an obscure man, she works in a brothel. Living in poverty, she dreams of avenging her father, Agamemnon. On the night of the Festival of the Dead, she tries in vain to kill her mother, Clytemnestra, and her stepfather, Aegisthus. Defeated, she is left exposed outside the palace gates. That same night, a man disguised as a woman secretly arrives in Argos. It is Orestes, her brother. Driven by Apollo, he returns to his homeland. He must kill his mother and avenge a father he never knew.
