One October evening, there are three children. They are running because the police are chasing them. They take refuge in an electrical substation. The police do not warn of the danger or alert anyone. Two children die. One child survives. Weeks of ‘riots’ follow.

Ten years later. The court reconstructs the events. The recorded voices from the police radio. The meticulous detail. The hours, the minutes, the seconds.

And there is the survivor, the one who has been forgotten, who bears the memory of the two dead children in his very skin. The one who hides away. The one who, still and forever, faces the police.

Like a tragedy that is never over.

Beyond the facts – in all their rawness and starkness – and the words heard and spoken in court, this text unfolds a symbolic dimension through a choral form. It places the chain of events, and individual and collective guilt, within a human, ethical and political context.
