De fil blanc features a twin sister and brother, whose parents are in the process of separating. Just as their story begins to unfold, the two children are suddenly thrown out of their own narrative and into the margins of their own story. And here are the twins, alone on the blank page, lost in an imaginary world that is escaping around them, lost in a mock-dream charged with their apprehensions and fears about this new future. In this frozen, pack-ice-like landscape, they come across a variety of strange and familiar figures - primitive animal-men with fascinating ceremonies, old explorers scared out of their wits and no longer daring to leave the rusty hulk of their ship, an unpleasant, surly old woman... The twins wander through this new territory, by turns alone or accompanied, helping or helped, quiet explorers or uncomfortable refugees. Little by little, they make their way along the path that will allow the inhabitants of this imaginary land to send them home, ready to discover the life that awaits them out there.
