Chroniques du Barber Shop

From Lagos to London, from Johannesburg to Kampala, the barber shop is a place of socialization and intergenerational transmission. In this one-day, six-city play that spans continents, Inua Ellams recreates the rhythm and richness of conversations in the barber's shop as Chelsea/Barcelona kicks off. Fathers, sons, uncles, childhood friends and strangers all gather here for a haircut. They debate world news, talk politics and hair, colonial heritage and the disappearance of languages, and dream of the country's future.
