Cavalières

Who are they? And who do these four women of different ages and backgrounds think they are? What is their relationship with horses? Are they spirited? Yes, certainly.
The one thing they have in common is that they're very "cavalier" in the sense of having an impertinent, cheeky, daring demeanor. And they easily get on their "high horse". You mustn't get on their nerves or rush them.
They like to write letters to each other. They love to tell stories, and together they'll try to open up a breach in the everyday. Gathered around little Madeleine and her disability, they take it in turns to care for her. They want to allow themselves everything, they want to make mystery and absence speak, to provoke the unexpected.
