aym was 9 when he arrived in France, fleeing the violence in his country. With his parents, he left behind his culture, his roots, his language. So when he arrives here, French, everywhere, all the time, all around him, it's like noise. Never sentences, never meaning, just noise. One day, Taym closes his mouth and shuts up. Why talk at all? No one would understand him anyway. Faced with the little boy's silence, his father, his mother, his grandmother, his classmates, his teacher and then a teacher try to help him.

Au bout de ma langue explores the question of elsewhere from another angle: that of the symbolic, imaginary and cultural upheavals associated with settling in a new country. Beyond legal and administrative issues, how does a country make citizens from elsewhere its own? How do we settle here, "at home"?
