70* ans de fragments
76* Years of Fragments is a play fragmented into multiple scenes scattered across time: it has its roots in the year 1948 and the creation of the State of Israel in British Mandate Palestine, and spans the period up to the present day. The asterisk in the title invites the audience to update, each time the play is performed, the number of years since the start of the Israeli occupation. Each fragment highlights Palestinian characters caught up in their dreams, their frustrations, and the humour and cruelty of their situations. The play unfolds through a butterfly effect, reminiscences and recurring themes. All the fragments are set against the backdrop of a torn-apart land, of lives and families separated both yesterday and today, and recount the difficulty of living in peace with oneself and with others.
