A Year without Summer
A Year Without Summer evokes the year 1816, which saw the coldest summer in European history. In writing her Frankenstein, Mary Shelley imagined a genius who would manipulate nature. Holzinger transposes this idea to the present in an apocalyptic vision of artificial life and climate change. The performers literally become the guinea pigs for the meteorological phenomena that Holzinger unleashes on them, even beyond the point of perversion. No one knows better how to translate destructive concepts into stage spectacle in such a ruthless and captivating way. Expect images as grandiose as they are unforgettable.
