ÚLTIMO HELECHO
A breath from the Andes crosses the stage. In Último helecho, Nina Laisné and François Chaignaud revive the living memory of South American folklore, between baroque vertigo, song and inhabited dance.
After Romances inciertos (presented in 2019 at Le Quai), François Chaignaud and Nina Laisné continue their exploration of folklore as material for poetic reinvention. In collaboration with singer Nadia Larcher, a key figure on the Buenos Aires music scene, Último helecho draws on the popular repertoires of Argentina and Peru, music and dances for couples (zambas, chacareras, huaynos) that carry with them the tensions of colonial history, traces of indigenous civilizations and European Baroque resonances. Between amorous embraces and choreographic jousts, these popular forms, far from being frozen folklore, become a terrain of experimentation, resistance and metamorphosis. On stage, François Chaignaud, Nadia Larcher and six musicians plunge us into the haunted landscapes of the Trujillo Codex, accompanied by the spirit of the Sibyls. A living speleology, where bodies exhume voices, dances and buried memories.
