Troglodyte

Zaunkönig, literally "king of fences": a very small bird, one of the smallest in Europe. Habituated to hedges. Rarely seen in the open. Scientific name: Troglodytes troglodytes. Zaungast, literally "guest of the fence": person who attends an event from afar. Simple spectator. Observes, but takes no stand. Zaunkönig, Zaungast. Two outsider figures, discreet, confined to the margins. Not worthy of admission to the party? Not determined to mingle? In any case, out of place, on the sidelines, in reserve. These two inhabitants of the bangs, and their singular position - between restraint and affirmation, withdrawal and participation - inspired Swiss choreographer Thomas Hauert to create this new solo show, in which the movement of the body is in direct contact with the unconscious and emotion.
