Tout résonnait de ce rire théâtral

Tout résonnait de ce rire théâtral is a free adaptation of Petronius's Satyricon which seeks to question, as much through theater as through performance and dance, the mystery of the Petronian figure and in particular the two possible interpretations of the novel (one realistic, the other satirical). The show looks at the text itself, revisiting certain episodes including the orgy with Quartilla and Trimalchion's Feast.

The world of Satyricon is a permanent theater. It summons up a collective memory through very powerful, often shocking images. In his work, Petronius displays a genuine desire to turn life into fiction. The challenge is also to address through images the notion of impossible representation, since it is central to the novel.
