From Lapland to Benin and the Caribbean, from North to South America, six performers set out to explore the philosophy of Voodoo. Originating from African animist religions, Voodoo spread across the globe through the transatlantic slave trade, blending its practices as it encountered different political and cultural contexts. What new forms of cultural fusion and evolving identities might it still invent if it were invited to mingle with urban and contemporary dance? Through their rhythms, movements, masks, and costumes, the dancers reawaken these ancestral memories and engage in a dialogue with the invisible to learn how to “be at peace with.”
