One’s own room Inside Kabul

Add to my favorites

One's own room Inside Kabul is an invitation to spend a moment in the living room of an Afghan woman. There, after kicking off their shoes and sitting amidst cushions and traditional dishes, viewers discover Raha, a young woman sharing her story, desires and fears, isolated from the outside world after the Taliban takeover. The audience finds itself trapped with her as she recounts her day-to-day life. Conceived by Kubra Khademi and Caroline Gillet, and accompanied by a video created by an anonymous team from Kabul, this visual and sound device in the form of a huis clos suggests the fragility of women in Afghanistan, and reminds us of the speed at which fundamental freedoms can collapse, well beyond the country's borders. An immersive project that transforms personal testimony into a powerful call for collective reflection.
