Le soleil brille pourtant dehors
Adèle and Samy have been on their own ever since their little daughter failed to return to their red-brick house near the woods. To talk about the missing girl and wait for her in a form of mingled hope and despair, the couple cling to everyday gestures and each reminisce about their own childhood. One comes up with strange hypotheses, the other is overcome by fear of the outside world.
They both tirelessly try to continue living together in this cesspool. The tutelary shadow of David Lynch hangs over this highly accomplished work, which borrows the filmmaker's art of mystery. To put the pieces of their puzzle together, the two characters call on the codes of the thriller and the fantastic. The Maison Vague company blends a number of disciplines to bring this show to life, with its carefully crafted sound and visual aspects.
Whispered or chanted words, sometimes projected onto fabrics representing the parents' home. Sound effects and even magic punctuate this deeply moving text by Marine Chartrain (winner of the Prix Prémisses*), in the service of this story of love and mourning made up of apparitions and disappearances.
