Le Roi, la Reine et le Bouffon

Add to my favorites

Once upon a time, there was a really mean king and queen, and a persecuted jester. Locked up in a palace against their will, they have to live together. Three grotesque, cruel clowns with twisted, gangly bodies, straight out of Beckett, Kantor or even Tarantino. Pathetically funny, these three neurotic antiheroes vie for power, and it's all over the place. From a monstrous waltz to a suicide, chases and resurrections, the sarcastic trio stop at nothing to explore the workings of violence and its reversal. How else can you escape the confining reality and stereotypes than by enjoying the game? Far from naturalism, this is a farce about power and the possibility of abusing it, a joyful, clownish anatomy of violence and domination. A boneless tale that pits the figures of our childhood against each other in a frantic quest for freedom, a desperate battle against boredom!
