Welcome to Le Jardin des délices, a retro-futuristic epic encounter with worlds to come. In the phantasmagorical space of the Carrière de Boulbon, Philippe Quesne, creator of La Mélancolie des dragons, La Nuit des taupes and Farm fatale, returns to the Festival to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of his company, Vivarium Studio. He assembles a team of performers, actors and musicians ready to embark on a journey through time from yesterday to today, inspired by the premonitory allegories of the painting by Hieronymus Bosch. The Flemish painter depicted the radical upheaval of everyday, technical and political reference points in a transitional period between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Following in his footsteps, between medieval bestiary, ecological science fiction and contemporary western, The Garden of Delights explores worlds on the edge of our own, when fantasy and utopia disturb the relationship between nature and culture and formulate a playful response to ongoing threats.
