Le Cimetière des éléphants
A woman steps into the middle of the stage and introduces herself. Her name is Flore. She's 86 and would like to die in January 2027. But she's still hesitating. Next to her, a presenter assures her that thanks to this TV show, she'll be able to make her final decision and, if she feels up to it, even die live in front of the audience. On this dystopian stage, Flore is joined by witnesses who talk about their desire to die with dignity or their experience as carers. Between two interventions, they act out different situations, with the aim of helping Flore advance in her reflection.
Why are people denied the right to choose the time and manner of their death? Author and director Héloïse Janjaud, trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, makes this burning topical question the driving force behind this first creation. During a preparatory investigation, she meets Flore, a former psychologist, who has decided to leave as long as she feels in full possession of her means. Flore becomes both the red thread of the play and its main character, surrounded by fictional creatures nourished by other encounters and testimonies.
