La plus secrète mémoire des hommes
A Senegalese author discovers in Paris a mythical book published in 1938, Le Labyrinthe de l'inhumain, subsequently lost in a corridor of time. He then sets off in search of its enigmatic author, T.C. Elimane, described in his day as the "Negro Rimbaud". The mystery surrounding this disappearance becomes an incisive interrogation of the obligation to delve into the memory of the relationship of domination, particularly intellectual domination, imposed by the colonizer on the colonized, in order to free oneself from it and rebuild oneself.
With this novel, Prix Goncourt 2021, Mohamed Mbougar Sarr takes us into the twists and turns of a fascinating reflection on the imperative necessity of literature. Two talented Burkinabè artists take it on, giving voice to the richness and force of a burning, protean, hard-hitting, disturbing piece of writing, full of humor and self-mockery.
