J'étais dans ma maison et j'attendais que la pluie vienne

"In the manner of a classical tragedy, the play is built around one character. It's five women talking about a man exhausted by the road and life. I don't think the tragedy here is anything extraordinary or spectacular; it's a family story like any other: a child has chosen to leave. It is this event that lies at the heart of the story shared by these women. They all tell of their expectations, their dreams and their fears. And they all speak of the younger brother as if their lives had been destined to await his return, and that the settling of scores would take place only between them and him. Lagarce thus forces us to ask questions about the place of women in relation to men today, but the tragedy lies not only in this family's shared past, but in what is being said now, the moment when we say things to each other, the daily sufferings, those we experience every day but keep silent or hide."
