Je venaisvoir la mer
Lecture directed by Pascale Daniel-Lacombe in complicity with Olivier Dutilloy
This is the story of a return. A man returns to a seaside town, returns to a house he once knew, and speaks to a woman he once knew. He speaks to her, from the threshold of the house, and she doesn't answer. At first, he talks about everything and nothing, to avoid recounting what caused his pain, his departure, his wandering; he'd like to explain his mistakes, to make amends, but it's so difficult to make amends. What bubbled under the surface of happiness was the difficult childhood, the violence and dislike of the father, the fear of repeating the bad deeds. But what do you pass on when you refuse your own heritage?
Little by little, the story of a journey towards oneself, necessary to begin to live, is revealed. It's raining. On the threshold of past memories, faces reappear. He asks for a towel. Will he cross the threshold?
