Proust. A journey. In Search of Lost Time. Leaving one’s mother behind. Losing oneself in the novel’s settings. Being engulfed by other lives. Immersing oneself fully in the work. Hovering between reality and fiction. The characters in the story do not die. They precede us and outlive us, offering us a glimpse of the possibility of eternity.

From Combray to Cabourg, Foutez-y du plâtre is an attempt at self-reinvention.
At the starting point is the desire to throw oneself headlong into reading, to leave one’s life behind for a while. To dive headfirst into fiction. To set sail. To wander through these imaginary landscapes. To try to inhabit them. To decide to believe. To summon the ghosts of the story. To give them flesh and blood. To cling to them.
But reality bursts in, brutally. The specter of the mother calls for a return to her side.
Death lurks, the journey ends, the settings fade away. How does one find oneself again after trying to escape?
