Faustus in Africa !
A satire of the Faust myth for a powerful metaphor of our times.
Explorer, conqueror, predator? Faustus, embarks on a frenzied safari following a pact signed in his blood with Mephisto. Created in 1995 by the famous South African puppeteer troupe Handspring Puppet Company, this show, recreated for our times, takes us on a journey to discover Africa. Conceived and directed by one of the major and protean figures of contemporary art, this fable combines several arts - theater, puppetry, drawing, music, video - to offer a bitingly ironic satire of the rapacity of the colonizer whose sole obsession is to plunder resources and exploit populations.
